Do You Have Internet and What Does Your Internet Service Look Like?

To ensure that access to broadband internet is distributed in an equitable way in Mississippi, we are asking community members to share their access to internet with us.

We are conducting this Broadband Internet Survey for the purpose of gathering information from citizens of the State on their current access to residential high-speed Broadband internet. The data collected through this survey will assist communities in advocating for the equitable distribution of resources to promote access to affordable residential high-speed, fiber-based Internet in and around your community and across the State.

Your participation in the Survey is completely voluntary and you are under no obligation to participate. If you do not wish to provide Personal Information or do not feel comfortable on how your Survey responses will be used, please do not participate in the Survey. Even if you initially decide to participate in the Survey, you may discontinue completing the Survey at any time. Whether or not you decide to participate in the Survey will not affect or impact your ability to obtain future Internet services.

If you elect to participate in the Survey, the organizations shall not be responsible for any damages of any kind resulting for your participation in the Survey and/or your provision of information to these organizations through the Survey. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the organizations from and against any claims, damages, losses and expenses, including but not limited to attorneys' fees, arising out of or resulting from your participation in the Survey and/or your provision of information to the organizations through the Survey.

What Personal Information is Collected?

The organizations are conducting the Survey to identify those areas of the State and those citizens that currently have limited or no access to high-speed Internet services. The personal information collected through the Survey includes: your legal name, phone number, email address physical street address, county, and zip code.

How Will the Personal Information Be Used?

The organizations may share the information collected through the Survey with known ISPs conducting business in the State. The collected information will be used and shared exclusively for purposes related to understanding the demand for high-speed Internet and the barriers that exist to access to high-speed Internet in the State.

How Will the Personal Information be Protected?

Protecting your personal information is our highest priority. The organizations will share the personal information only in accordance with the State's applicable laws, regulations, and restrictions and these terms and conditions. All personal information collected is stored in electronic format and password protected. The organizations strive to protect the personal and confidential information of those who use our online services.

Notwithstanding the organizations’ efforts to protect the information you provide in response to the Survey, no data can be 100% secure. Consequently, we cannot guarantee or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. If we learn of a security breach we may attempt to notify you electronically so that you can take appropriate protective steps. By participating in the Survey, you agree that we can communicate with you electronically regarding security, privacy, and administrative issues relating to your participation in the Survey. We may post a notice on this website if a security breach occurs. If this happens, you will need a web browser enabling you to view this website. We may also send an email to you at the email address you have provided to us in these circumstances.

This website is a collaborative effort between the Mississippi Center for Justice, the Children’s Defense Fund Southern Regional Office, the Southern Rural Black Women’s Initiative for Economic and Social Justice, One Voice, MS Delta Council for Farm Worker Opportunities, and Quitman County Development Organization. The main goal of this project is to ensure that broadband expansion in Mississippi happens in an equitable way centering our underserved and unserved communities.
